With 5G network arriving across the globe, telecom providers and equipment manufacturers including OnePlus, Samsung, Huawei and Apple are preparing themselves for the next- gen technology.
According to reports, Apple might plan launching its first ever 5G enabled smartphone in 2020, while the network will begin rolling out in many major countries by the end of 2019. Apple appears to be in a practice of first observing how the latest technology is working before making big changes in its devices. Therefore, it is expected that before deploying 5G services, it will wait till the 5G infrastructure is truly running a success.
With a history of launching its smartphones in September, the latest lineup of iPhones is doing a good job all over the world.
In order to test and to make prototypes of the future iPhone models, Intel is working on a precursor of 8161 chip called the 8060. On the other hand, 5G chips made by Qualcomm are supposed to be used by other smartphone manufacturers like Oppo, Xiaomi and Huawei. Their debut is expected to be at the Mobile World Congress in February 2019.
Disagreement over ‘heat dissipation issues’ had been threatening the association of Apple and Intel according to reports, however it is quite unlikely that iPhone will switch to Qualcomm for the supply of 5G modems.
International Data Corporation is speculating that smartphones sales in India will be driven by 5G capability and that by the latter half of the coming year, the next- gen technology of 5G will be made available on many smartphones.
