The deal between Whatsapp and Google that was announced earlier this year has come into effect on November 12, allowing 1 billion Whatsapp users to backup their chat history of Whatsapp on Google drive without having to sacrifice their Google Drive’s limited storage quota of 15GB.

Unlike before now the users can store their data including files, media, videos and messages on Google Drive and it will not count towards their storage quota on Google Drive thus allowing them to store unlimited data on Google Drive.

However, as per their announcement, data that has not been updated for over a year will automatically get deleted from Google Drive. Since Apple devices use iCloud for storage, this feature is only meant for Android users. Some users were informed of the partnership allowing storage of unlimited data via email by the company.
