Gaming has always been a huge part and parcel in the business of smartphones. Razer, a hard-core gaming firm, thinks that it is possible to come up with a tailor-made smartphone for games that would not publicly embarrass you.

According to Razer, mobile has to be the next big step in gaming. Over the last five years or so, Razer has started to manufacture colourful keyboards and precision mice for gaming and it has transitioned into performance laptops as well.

While Pixel 2s, Galaxy S8s and iPhone 8s are pretty ideal for gaming, Razer goes ahead and highlights itself as the “lifestyle brand for the people that grew up as gamers” and works on the premise that there’s still hope for making the topmost phone for gamers.

The Razer Phone is manufactured by few of the former employees of Netbit who were engaged by the company. The phone has usual high-end components of 2017: dual 12-megapixel camera on the back, 64GB storage with a microSD card slot, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor, high resolution display and 8GB of RAM.

Apart from that, Razer also incorporates shoehorned performance laptop technology, a large 4,000 mAh battery and loud stereo speakers facing the front.

Razer, with its 8mm-thick smartphone, intends to target the 15 to 25-year-old gaming aficionados. Apart from being a near-stock version of Android 7 Nougat, it comes with the latest Android 8 Oreo update.

The smartphone has adaptable 120Hz display refresh rate, which is twice that of its rivals. It also incorporates Ultramotion, which is similar to AMD’s FreeSync or Nvidia’s G-Sync’s PC gaming technologies. The smartphone offers daily performance and smooth gaming, and its display has the feature of switching off its refresh rate in order to conserve battery whenever needed.

20% of the Android games will have uncapped frame rates, which will ensure that they fully utilise the benefits of Razer’s technologies. The company is actively collaborating with other huge game developers to incorporate some already successful games to the phone such as Shadow Gun Legends and Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition.

According to Tom Moss, Head of Razer’s mobile business, they were not aiming to be one of the top three biggest smartphone makers. Instead, they just want to be taken seriously in the gaming market.

Even though Razer will have to face stiff competition from the already dominating companies such as Huawei, Apple and Samsung, it has to primarily satiate its relatively large zealous fan base.
